Jean Beerman Obituary

At age 98, Jean Beerman of Leetsdale, PA, passed away on January 15, 2023. Jean was the beloved wife of the late Leo Beerman. She was the last of “The Originals”, the nickname for her and her siblings. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Stanley, John, and Edward Wagner and her sister, Cecelia Cirka.  She is survived by her sons, Richard (Lisa) Beerman of Atlanta, GA and Thomas Beerman of Leetsdale, PA, and her daughters Josephine (Glenn) Hasulak of Little River, SC, Barbara (Thomas) Jakab of Allison Park, PA, and Patricia (Greg) Wilson of Crescent Township, PA. Jean was the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren, Ruth, John, Rachel, Amy, Lisa, Syl, Brad, Becky, Thomas, Elizabeth, Bob, Nick, and Katie and 2 great grandchildren. She brought the spirit of compassion and togetherness to all who knew her.

Mrs. Beerman is a 1943 graduate of Ambridge High School. In her early years, she worked as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone and as an ammunition inspector at a factory, during WWII. A devout Roman Catholic and longtime parishioner of Good Samaritan Catholic Church in Ambridge, Jean loved music, was a long-time member of the choir, and served as the church secretary for many years. She was also an active member of the Christian Women’s Group.

She was an involved member of the community and volunteered in many ways including annual parish festivals, fundraisers, Edgeworth Elementary School’s Generations Together program, and making perogies at church. She also enjoyed the bowling league and a monthly card club.

She will be remembered for all that she did for everyone around her. She was always there, and we will remember her as ever-present in our hearts. Her passion for life and giving to others always shined through. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends, especially stuffed cabbage, spritz cookies, and her delicious brownies. She loved gardening, whether pruning her rose bushes, or picking a fresh tomato off the vine.

Nothing could light up her life better than holding a newborn baby, celebrating a wedding, cuddling up with her dog, or watching a Steeler game with many of her children or grandchildren. Whether it was heading out for a camping trip or an elegant and relaxing cruise, she was ready to pack her bags and go on the next family adventure. Her life was devoted to living a life of faith in God. Her love of life touched many people.
