Jerry A. Hodge, of Economy Borough, 66, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Heritage Valley Hospital Beaver. He was a graduate of Midland High School, and got his associate degree from Community College of Beaver County, then attended University of Pittsburgh where he received his Bachelors of Arts Degree and received his Master of Arts in Leadership and Liberal Studies from Duquesne University.
He started working at Hall China in East Liverpool. In 1975, he got a job at Jones & Laughlin Steel in Aliquippa where he worked till 1982. From 1982 to 1987, he worked as District Director for Congressman Joe Kolter in Beaver Falls. He began working for the National Association of Manufacturers as a Regional Director in January of 1988 and retired 30 years later in 2018.
Jerry served on several boards, including the Drug & Alcohol Commission for six years, the Beaver County Transit Authority for 17 years, Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School for ten years, PA Housing Finance Authority for 17 years, Beaver County Labor Council for four years, and Midland Innovation & Technology Charter School for four years.
In addition, he was elected a Delegate for President Bill Clinton, and served on the Council for Economy Borough.
He loved to travel, and two of his favorite spots were San Diego, California and Treasure Island, Florida. He also loved our annual trips to Oglebay for the festival of lights display, as well as Niagara Falls. He had the opportunity to travel much of the United States, as well as Italy. He enjoyed dining out and playing slot machines at the Casinos. His real passion was tennis, which he would sometimes play a few times a week, and was fortunate to play until he was 66 years old.
He was preceded in death by his parents Esther & Gora Hodge, a brother, Marty Hodge and a niece, Chrissy Hodge. Mother-In-Law, Lillian Ulizio and Father-In-Law, Raymond Ulizio.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend for over 45 years, Darlene Hodge, and a daughter, Danielle Hodge and her longtime boyfriend, Jason Battis. Sister, Diane Gailey and her husband Doug Gailey. Sister-In-Law, Mary Lee Ulizio, Brother-In-Law, Raymond Ulizio, wife, Linda Ulizio and niece Christina Ulizio, along with Sister-In-Law Debbie Hodge and nephew Brian Hodge, and his "buddy", as he would call our cat, Victoria.
