Conway - John B. Mason, 78, of Conway, died October 21, 2021 at Heritage Valley Beaver. Born February 9, 1943, He was the son of the late John Mason and Lila Mason and had been a resident of Conway most of his life. John graduated from Donora High School in 1960 and soon enlisted in the USAF. He served four + years in the USAFSS in Japan and Scotland. He continued serving 22 more years in the AF Reserves and PAANG. He also attended the University of Maryland and California University of PA graduating with a Bachelor's of Science Degree. He also graduated from Penn State with a Masters of Education.
He met the love of his life, Ellen Mason, in Scotland and was struck with a thunderbolt of love. The couple were married in 1964 at Kirknewton RMS Air Base in Scotland. He retired after 35 years of teaching for Freedom and Ambridge School Districts. He also taught for Central Texas University while on sabbatical leave at the Nuclear Submarine Base, in Holy Loch, Scotland.
He was a devoted husband, loving Father, proud Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He was active and devoted to the Presbyterian Church in Conway. He wanted to believe but changed to spiritual rather than religious beliefs in his latter years. Sports, outdoors, travel, card clubs and TV were his loves.
Preceding him in death was his cherished daughter, Nicolette. Survived by his beloved wife of 57 years Ellen M. Mason, dedicated father of John D. Mason, and Shannon Mason. Grandfather of Avalon Mason, Great-grandfather of Robin Pastorelle.

He wanted everyone to know that he lived a great life, better than he deserved, thanks to his family and friends. There will be a private family service to spread his ashes. At a later date there will be a celebration of his life for family and friends.
