Joseph E. Martinelli, age 71, of Bridgeville, PA passed peacefully on December 23, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. In spite of what the illness took from him, Joe’s humor and spirit stayed with him throughout. Joe was born in Pittsburgh, PA to Joseph C. and Tressa (Simone) Martinelli. He attended St. Bernard’s School, Parkway West technical school, and he graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School. Joe was multi-talented, and prided himself on being a football player, geek, hippie, musician, and gardener all at once. One of his finest accomplishments was to be the youngest person to ever earn the rank of Eagle Scout in his district. Joe started his career working at Pennsylvania Macaroni Company, then worked in facilities maintenance at Washington Plaza apartments. In the late 70’s, Joe moved to California. Being a self-taught computer guru, he soon landed an IT position with San Diego Gas & Electric Company. In 2000, Joe returned to Pittsburgh and was employed at Dagastino Electronic Services, and later at the Center for Digestive Health and Nutrition as IT manager. Joe was also a self-taught musician and enjoyed playing in a band with his buddies in California. He was an avid gardener and was well-known for his prolific garlic garden. Joe served as an officer at the Beadling Club, where he assisted with technology, and enjoyed cooking for corn roasts and other events. Joe will be remembered as a colorful, creative, and energetic friend, co-worker, and family member. Joe is survived by his loving partner, Mary Lou Miller; sister, Linda Kindelberger (Wes); brother, John Martinelli; brother-in-law, Roy Hax; step-son, Robbie Martinelli; niece, Nikki Kindelberger; and nephew, Sean Colie. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Barbara Hax and Nancy Colie (the late Steve Colie). Visitation and memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 10AM – 12PM at Alvarez-Hahn Funeral Services and Cremation LLC, 547 8th Street, Ambridge, PA 15003.
