Passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022, at the age of 100+ My Mother Philomena (Phyllis) Czarnecki Dunn, devoted mother of five children, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Philomena was born on April 03, 1922 in Pittsburgh PA. to Stanislaw and Katarzyna (Zelachowski) Czarnecki. Philomena had worked various jobs. But the job she loved most and did best was that of a devoted wife, mother (in-law), grandmother and aunt. On September 01, 1946 she married the love of her life Harry R. Dunn. They raised three daughters, Kathryn (Dennis), Rose (Ethan) Vons, and Joann (Mark) Crano, and two sons, Jerome (Agnes) and Robert (Denise) Dunn. Besides her children Philomena will leave behind seven Grandchildren, Three Great Granddaughters which includes Jaymee-Lei Dunn, Delaware, who brought Mom joy and laughter whenever she visited. Numerous nieces and nephews. Including a very special Great-Great Niece Amahni Harris, who assisted as caretaker to Mom. Amahni made Mom smile like no other. Her love, compassion, and dedication while caring for Mom will not be forgotten. A devoted niece Donna Dunn Butera whose consistent visits Mom looked forward to. Also much gratitude to her PCP of over 30+ years, Dr. Richard Schollaert. Last but not least. Her affectionate cat Smokey Bones. Smokey was a feral cat who one day, walked into Mom's house, jumped onto her lap, curled up and stayed. Philomena was preceded in death by her husband Harry, eldest daughter Kathryn, and nephew Richard Zalenski. Words alone cannot describe my mother. Everyone who knew her, loved her. Her smile and kindness are what people remember most about her. Mom may not have had a college degree, but she was by far one of the smartest people I knew. She was a descendant of Polish Nobility, was easy going by nature. She fed the wild animals daily, the birds, rabbits, opossum, groundhogs, racoons, and the deer. The squirrels and birds, would even knock and peck on her kitchen window for food. Her life motto's were: "If you don't have anything good to say. Don't say anything." Also, "Dress for comfort (or warmth) not beauty." Another motto was, "Whatever you do! Don't get old!!!" Mom was originally from Polish Hill Pittsburgh. When she was two, her family moved to Ambridge. She was 100% Polish, and Spoke fluent Polish. Even (bilingual) in her sleep. She gave a good hug! Was officially a Breast Cancer Survivor, and loved when company visited. She'd prefer a beer over wine. Her kitchen was legendary. She was the best cook! Whether it was a five course meal, or her perfect Grilled Cheese sandwiches. Her secret ingredient for cooking was love! She loved to cook, and then watch you eat. She was a Christian Mother at the Former St. Stanislaus Parish in Ambridge. A Volunteer at "St. V's" school Cafeteria. She loved bananas! And Instinctively knew a phony when she met one! Mom enjoyed her weekly "date night" to The Center For Hope, with son in-law Mark. Many people at The Center For Hope affectionately called her Mom or GramMa. And Mom fondly referred to them as family. Her husband Harry died in her arms. She would give you the shirt off her back, and the last dollar in her pocket. One Christmas while a young mother, she awoke to find every single needle off the Christmas tree. Before any of her children woke up. She went to the corner store, got another tree. Had it up and decorated, before her children awoke. She wore her wedding ring everyday for 76+ years. Only taking it off once to be rebonded. She intuitively knew when something was bothering you. She use to walk door to door collecting money for flowers when a neighbor would pass on. She made homemade Root Beer. Knew how to mix cement. She, invented The Pizza Cracker! She would defend you with all her being, when others wouldn't. And, Her favorite ice cream was Whitehouse. In lieu of flowers I ask that you make a donation to the Beaver County Humane Society. Choose to adopt not shop. Friends will be received on Saturday from 6-8 pm and Sunday from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm in the Kasper Chapel of Alvarez-Hahn Funeral Services and Cremation, LLC, 547 8th Street, Ambridge, ( 724-266-2549). A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 am on Monday at Good Samaritan Church, Ambridge. Burial will follow at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, Rochester.
