Shawky Mechael, 91, of Mount Lebanon, went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 8, 2021. He was the son of the late Dr. Fahmy Mossad and Amina Dos. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dr. Angil and Zou Zou.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ninett Mechael, his son, Fahmy (Casey), brother, Dr. Kamal (Mahasen) Mechael, beloved granddaughter, Elizabeth (Sean) Caselli-Mechael, and numerous beloved nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grand nieces.
Dr. Shawky started his medical practice by continuing the work of his recently deceased father in 1954. He served his patients in Damanhour and Alexandria, Egypt, Kuwait, Uniontown, PA, Kenansville, NC, Beaufort, SC, and Orangeburg, SC. He loved helping his patients and bringing new lives into this world as a board-certified OBGYN in three counties. He was most proud of the Lord leading him to being a founding member of Saint Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church in Pittsburgh, St Mark Coptic Orthodox Church in Charlotte, NC, and St Mary and Mina Coptic Orthodox Church in Fort Mill, SC. He lived a life committed to his faith and his family.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 1:00 PM, at Saint Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church, 995 Melrose Avenue, Ambridge, PA. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Moon Twp. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to St Mary’s Coptic Orthodox Church of Pittsburgh at http://stmarypgh.org/donate.html.
