William R. Och

William R. Och, 81, of Economy Borough, passed away on January 29, 2024. He was the son of the late John H. and Loretta Och. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Och, and brothers, Lawrence Och and John Och. Surviving are his children: Tamara Edwards, William A. (Michele) Och, Kerry Och, and Dana (Chris Cannon) Och; sister, Ann (Larry) Wardman; grandchildren: Tyler Edwards, Christian Edwards, Jordyn Och, Ryan Och, Madelyn Och, Dylan Och, and Teagan Och; the beloved Walsh family; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. 

He was a graduate of Pittsburgh Central Catholic before moving on to Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor in Education and then a Master in Education from Southeastern State College in Oklahoma. He was an educator and coach of football as well as track and field at Quaker Valley Senior High School for 31 years. 

Over his lifetime, Bill enjoyed fishing and embracing life, whether travelling in his RV to visit family or supporting Pittsburgh sports. A man of strong faith, he offered assistance and advice to anyone in need, leading to him being fondly called "Mr Fix It" at his retirement. He especially loved supporting his seven grandchildren in all their endeavors and could often be seen with his camera cheering in the bleachers.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM in the Alvarez-Hahn Funeral Services and Cremation, LLC, 547 8th Street, Ambridge, 724-266-2549. Additional visitation will be on Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 11:00 AM until time of departing prayers at 12:30 PM at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Luke the Evangelist Church, Ambridge, at 1:00 PM. Burial is private. Full obituary can be viewed at alvarezhahnfs.com
